SJ Stoker Solicitors was set up by Samantha Stoker, Principal of SJ Stoker Solicitors, to meet the growing demand for specialist Spanish property and inheritance services in the UK.
Samantha is a qualified English Solicitor. She moved to Spain with her family at the age of 10. For many years she helped in the running of a number of the family business interests in the country. Therefore, in addition to being fluent in the language, she also has first hand experience of the unique underlying Spanish culture, the complex legal system and the sometimes frustrating bureaucracy. Years later she returned to England and studied Law at the University of Kent at Canterbury where she was awarded a Bachelor of Laws. Samantha qualified as an English Solicitor in 2002 and returned to Spain to work in a Spanish law firm. Whilst working in Spain she acted for British clients who were buying and selling Spanish property and also dealt with Spanish inheritance cases.
In 2004 Samantha returned to Exeter and joined a "Top 100" law firm, Ashfords LLP to set up their Spanish legal department. During that time she also specialised in other private client work including dealing with the administration of English estates, will writing, remortgages, transfers of equity and conveyancing of residential property in England and Wales. In 2008 she was promoted to Associate Solicitor. With her growing reputation as a Spanish property and probate specialist, she decided to set up her own law firm, SJ Stoker Solicitors.
Samantha receives an increasing number of recommendations and referrals through existing clients, other law firms and professionals. She is known as a specialist in her field and is often called upon to provide her expert opinion on complex Spanish cases.
Samantha is a member of the British Spanish Law Association. She has appeared on radio (BBC Radio Devon) to discuss topical issues regarding Spanish property matters and has also written articles in local newspapers and magazines.
